What is a banked reset?

A banked reset is a saved benefit on an eligible account. You choose when to apply it before its expiry. It differs from a global reset, which automatically refreshes eligible usage limits, and from the regular reset schedule shown in your account.

Offers, supported plans and expiry depend on the specific issuance. Read your own offer and OpenAI’s banked reset guidance ↗.

A practical decision checklist

  1. Check Settings → Usage for remaining usage, eligibility and the saved reset’s expiry.
  2. If your normal allowance is enough, there may be no reason to spend a saved reset yet.
  3. If usage is exhausted and the saved reset is useful now, inspect current official announcements before deciding.
  4. HIGH / WAIT means a verified future global notice is active. MEDIUM / CAUTION means evidence needs review, or feed coverage is incomplete. LOW / SAFE is conditional; it does not rule out an unmonitored announcement.
  5. Do not let a saved reset expire solely because you expect an unannounced global reset.

Known banked reset issuances

No banked issuance is counted as a global reset pattern.
